Elephants intensive, close to nature and individual

Forget the world while riding elephants through the forest. And simply enjoy.

The Elephant Intensive Tour lets you experience deep bonds with “your” beloved elephant – in five intensive days you will experience all the special impressions of our project.
You will get to know your own elephant, familiarize yourself with it, ride through the local forests, bathe with the animals and also learn exactly how to work with tree trunks. You will also visit a Buddhist temple in the mountains, which – unlike many other places in Thailand – is rarely visited by tourists and can undoubtedly be described as very unusual.

Detailed travel program
Day 1
Training course in our own elephant camp:
In Chiang Mai we will pick you up at the airport or hotel. We take you by car to Mae Sapok to your accommodation. You will receive an introduction to the behavior and lifestyle of elephants. Accompanied by your English-speaking guide, you will learn the basics of elephant guiding. In addition to bathing the animals extensively, the program includes first commands and a ride into the surrounding woods. In the afternoon you will visit a nearby village (hill tribe). We introduce you to the Karen way of life with impressive excursions and in-depth background knowledge.

Day 2
Further introduction to keeping elephants:
After a hearty breakfast, you and your trainer will drive to the elephant camp. From there you start a hike through the forest, where you pick up our elephants from their sleeping places and ride back to camp. After lunch, you bathe the elephants and begin a beautiful ride through the impressive vegetation of northern Thailand. After your time with the elephants, you will visit a local royal project that has had a major political and social impact in the area.

Day 3
Excursion to a remote mountain temple and the opportunity to relax with a bamboo raft ride or a massage:
In the morning, visit the beautiful local temple “Wat Luang”, which is located off the beaten track in the middle of the Thai forest. You will spend lunch by the Mae Wang River. You have the afternoon at leisure. There is the optional possibility of taking a bamboo raft ride or enjoying a pleasant massage.

Day 4
Training course at the elephant camp:
Today, the elephant camp focuses on the introduction to working with wood. Naturally adapted to the physical abilities of our guests, the basics of the centuries-old tradition are presented and applied. After lunch, the basics learned in the morning are deepened, and alternative ways of getting on and riding the elephant are also learned.

Day 5
Training course at the elephant camp:
Experience the last activities with your elephant in the camp. Show your trainer and your mahout what you have learned about handling elephants during your days with us. Prove to yourself the talent with which you can steer your elephant. A final ride through the mountains of Thailand on the neck of the largest land mammal on earth lets you recapitulate all the great experiences of the past few days. After a pleasant shower in your accommodation, you will finally set off on the return journey to Chiang Mai – organized by Elephant Special Tours, of course. Arrival in the city will be at 6 p.m. at the latest.
