We're excited to introduce our elephant herd in the mountains of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Our elephants have diverse backgrounds that have shaped their unique characteristics.. Promoting a healthy herd dynamic is important to us, which is why we welcome elephants of all ages and nurture them according to their abilities.<\/p>\n

During our elephant tours in Thailand, you'll have plenty of time to get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Mae Boonsin<\/h4>

born 2000<\/p>

Mae Boonsin spent most of her time alone in the forest before she arrived with us. She has been with Elephant Special Tours since 2013 and has developed wonderfully since then. Her firstborn son, Henry, came into the world in 2019.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

    Phu Henry<\/h4>

    born 2019<\/p>

    Henry was born on October 7, 2019, and has thrived since then. He has a very lively disposition and gets along very well with the other members of the herd. He particularly enjoys spending time with the two other young bulls, Phu Sinan and Louis.<\/div><\/div>

      <\/div>

      Salia and Louis<\/h4>

      born 2006 \/ 2021<\/p>

      Salia was the first elephant born at Elephant Special Tours. She was born in 2006 and has grown into a lively young lady. In January 2021, her son Louis joined the world. He has a relaxed, childlike nature and enjoys exploring his surroundings. Both of them adore the local forests, especially the nearby river, where they love to bathe.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

        Mae Ranya<\/h4>

        born ca. 1983<\/p>

        Mae Ranya has been with us since July 2022. Currently, she is a bit overweight, but with adequate exercise here, she'll soon return to her ideal weight. She originally comes from a zoo in the Buriram province and spent almost her entire life there.<\/div><\/div>

          Mae Gaeo I<\/h4>

          born 2019<\/p>

          Mae Gaeo is a mature elephant in her 40s. She spent many years in our elephant camp and has had several children, including siblings Salia and Phu Chapo. She is a grandmother multiple times over and is quite popular within the herd. With her experience, she often assists the younger mothers.<\/div><\/div>

            Mae Wanmai<\/h4>

            born ca. 1990<\/p>

            Thid beautiful elephant in her mid-thirties, Mae Wanmai, has returned to our elephants after several years in other elephant projects. She has integrated well into the herd and has now found her own place within the group.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>

              Mowa<\/h4>

              born 1981<\/p>

              The mid-thirty-year-old Mowa has been with our camp since November 2016, thanks to generous donations that allowed her to be bound to our project long-term. Her nickname, Nong Gee, translates to 'The Beautiful'. She has a very balanced and calm nature and integrates excellently into our herd.<\/div><\/div>

                Mopado<\/h4>

                born 1979<\/p>

                Mopado is an impressive animal with her large head and huge feet. She spent many years working as a logging elephant and has been part of our herd since 2018. She gets along particularly well with Mowa, most likely having known each other from earlier times. Generally, she doesn't seem to be bothered by much.<\/div><\/div>

                  Phu Chapo<\/h4>

                  born 2000<\/p>

                  Phu Chapo is the big brother of Salia. Despite being nearly fully grown, this bull isn't exceptionally large but is brimming with strength and energy. He has established himself as a potent breeding bull and is now the father of several calves from the region. Phu Chapo is playful and enjoys bathing in our river. As is typical for a bull his age, he tries to test his strength.<\/div><\/div>

                    Yaya and Didi<\/h4>

                    born 1979 \/ 2023<\/p>

                    Yaya has been with our camp since August 2014. She quickly found friends in the two elephant ladies, Salia and Mae Boonsin. Yaya may not be the largest female elephant, but she has a very balanced nature. Her first calf, Phu Sinan, was born in 2017, followed by her second son, Didi, in 2023. She is a very caring mother and always keeps a close eye on her little one during his adventures.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

                      Phu Sinan<\/h4>

                      born 2017<\/p>

                      Phu Sinan is the firstborn calf of Yaya. The young male elephant was born on December 30, 2017, and has since been eagerly exploring his surroundings. Sinan has grown quite large and now enjoys a relaxed life at Elephant Special Tours. He has wonderful playmates among the younger bulls.<\/div><\/div>
